形態特徵：

體長圓而側扁。頭大。吻長。眼大。缺上頜骨。後鰓蓋骨脊平滑或具弱鋸齒。背前鱗3。尾鰭圓型或亞截型。D. VII-I，9；A. II，8； P. 14。Dorsal-fin rays VII-I, 9; anal-fin rays II, 8; pectoral-fin rays 14. 體不具任何縱線；後鰓蓋骨緣無任何斑點；第二背鰭無卵形黑點。

棲所生態：

主要棲息於有遮蔽的珊瑚礁臺、潟湖或面海之礁區。白天停留在岩礁下方或洞穴內，晚上則外出覓食多毛類以及其它小型底棲無脊椎動物。

地理分布：

分布於中西太平洋，臺灣分布於南部海域。

利用：

通常以下雜魚處理，用作魚飼料，有時會曬成小魚乾自家食用，並無任何經濟價值。
