形態特徵：

體長圓而側扁。頭大。吻長。眼大。D. VII-I，9；A. II，8；P. 14-15；L.I. 23-24；GR. 2+1+10。本魚種和細條紋天竺鯛(Apogon lineatus)相類似，唯本種之橫帶寬於帶間空隙，而細條紋天竺鯛之橫帶極細，帶間空隙寬於橫帶；且本魚種有發光器，而細條紋天竺鯛無。條紋天竺鯛(Apogon striatus)為本種之同種異名。

棲所生態：

主要棲息於砂泥底質海域或潟湖區。以多毛類或其它底棲無脊椎動物為食。

地理分布：

分布於西太平洋區，由巴布新幾內亞、菲律賓至臺灣附近海域。臺灣西南部海域有分布。

利用：
