形態特徵：

體細長，裸露無鱗；前鰓蓋骨下緣有後向之強硬棘和長圓型瓣膜；尾鰭呈叉狀。D. VI-I，9；A. II，8；P.14；GR. 1+1+7；HL. 3.56；BD. 4.58 in SL；ED. 3.25；SnL. 4.54；IS. 3.69 all in HL。活魚體透明，且頭部有黑點；各鰭色淡；胸鰭下端之腹部銀白。

棲所生態：

主要棲息於淺海之珊瑚礁區。以浮游動物或其它底棲無脊椎動物為食。

地理分布：

分布於西太平洋區，包括臺灣、日本、菲律賓及馬歇爾群島。臺灣南部及小琉球有分布。

利用：
