形態特徵：

體型延長，側扁。體呈頭大尾小之延長狀，軀幹部份為圓錐形，愈往後愈尖細；頭部腹面完全被鱗，眼中大呈長橢圓形，約占頭長的22%，口小，吻極長而尖，約占頭長的52%，吻端有一硬棘。齒為錐狀，數列排成齒帶。體被大而薄的櫛鱗，鱗片上之棘刺甚強，排列成平行狀，約3列，中央一列的棘刺擴大成三角形狀。腹部之發光器短小，位於肛門前方之黑色區域。體為淡棕色。(2016/1/5李茂熒、林沛立編寫)

棲所生態：

主要棲息於1098-1392公尺之大陸坡水域，深海底棲性，緩慢游動於泥砂底質的海床上覓食小型蝦蟹。

地理分布：

分布於西太平洋區，以菲律賓海域周邊為主要發現地點。臺灣分布於南沙群島附近。
