Character: Body elongate. Cirri usually present above eye, arranged in 2-3 rows; occipital region absent. Body covered with very thin cycloid scales, often fused with skin; lateral line short, continues to apex of pectoral fin.Dorsal fin long, with XXIV to XXVI spines and 16 yo 18 soft rays; anal fin with II spines and 28 yo 30 soft rays. Coloration variable individually, no black spot between 1st and 2nd dorsal spines. 
Habitat: Inhabits rocky reefs near low tide mark. 
Distribution: Distributed in the Northwest Pacific from Okinawa Island, Japan and Taiwan. It is found in northeastern and northern Taiwanese waters. 
Utility: No commercial value.
