Character: Dorsal continuing, with X spines and 15-17 soft rays, the 3rd longest, elongate in male; anal fin with III spines & 7 soft rays; pelvic fin abdomen; pectoral rays 17-19; caudal fin truncate. Lateral line continuing, lateral line scales 42-47. Body reddish orange, body back middle yellow, abdomen pale, lateral with yellow stripe in male and red blotch in dorsal fin. 
Habitat: Occurs in coastal reefs, along deep slopes, usually in small aggregations. 
Distribution: Western Pacific: Taiwan, Philippines, Indonesia, and the northern Great Barrier Reef. 
Utility: Small perchlet, not commercial food species, but aquarium species.
