Character: Dorsal fin with XI spines and with 7-8 soft rays, 4th and 5th longest; anal fin with III spines and 10-11 soft rays. Anal fin small,2nd strong. Caudal fin forked. Body silver grey. side with light blue band. Bright yellow mark above the pelvic base. Caudal fin major light grey, only lower part light yellow. 
Habitat: Inhabits coastal waters. Abundant in shallow water and often caught at the surf-line or in rock pools. Larger, solitary fish sometimes enter brackish mangrove areas. Juveniles in estuaries move into deeper water with growth. Often in schools. Feeds on ben
